A beautiful version of the witch's pentagram necklace: this has a lovely hare nestled in the encircled pentangle. Hand wrapped, beaded rosary style chain of unakite flanks the Victorian Inspired connector. The unakite is arranged in an ombre gradation from pink-hued to deeper green stones.
Necklace measures 16" or 41cm and closes with a hook and eye clasp. The pentagram is nickle and lead free tibetan silver, while the connector and clasp are silver plated pewter and the chain nickel and lead free, plated iron.
I have created this necklace in honour of Isobel Gowdie, a Scottish witch from a Highland village not far from where I live. She is confessed to shape shifting in the form of a hare and was executed in July of 1662.
The Hare-chant of Isobel Gowdie:
I shall go into a hare,
With sorrow and sych and meickle care;
And I shall go in the Devil's name,
Ay while I come home again.[e]
To change back, she would say:
Hare, hare, God send thee care.
I am in a hare's likeness now,
But I shall be in a woman's likeness even now.
All my jewellery is made by hand by my partner Mike and myself in a converted 18th century naval school on the wild North coast of Scotland. All pieces come gift wrapped with lavender and Scottish heather.
